Larry Gene Moore, 69, of Hillsboro, died at 8:05 a.m. on March 18, 2019, at Hillsboro Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Hillsboro.

Cremation rites were accorded, and per the request of Mr. Moore, there will be a private gathering at the family farm in Coffeen.

Mr. Moore was born on Sept. 5, 1949, in Springfield to the late William Paul "Boots" and Anna Mae (Newell) Moore.

A 1967 graduate of Hillsboro High School, he lived in both Coffeen and Hillsboro during his lifetime. He was employed by the Montgomery County Sheriff's Department and worked in maintenance at the Montgomery County Courthouse in Hillsboro.

A very active member of the Hillsboro Moose Lodge, Mr. Moore loved history, the St. Louis Cardinals, country music and spending time with his grandchildren. He is also a former member of the Hillsboro Lions Club, and a veteran of the United States Army, where he served from 1969 to 1975.

Mr. Moore is survived by his children Andrea (husband Tim) Wight of Irving and Paul Moore of Girard; three grandchildren Anna Jackson of Irving, Christian Jackson of Greenville and Arlo Wight of Irving; and siblings Joyce (husband Gary) Zerrusen of Hillsboro,  Wilbur Anthony "Tony" Moore of Nokomis, Paula (husband Gene) Redman of Highland, Linda (husband Bob) Raines of Trenton and Jim (wife Barbara) Moore of Hillsboro.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one infant brother.
