Shirley M. Baugh, 86

Shirley Maxine Baugh, 86, of Litchfield, died Tuesday, April 16, 2019, at 4:25 p.m. at Hillsboro Area Hospital.

Visitation will be held Saturday, April 20, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Brother Ed Fogle of Litchfield officiating. Burial will be held in Elm Lawn Cemetery in Litchfield.

Mrs. Baugh was born Feb. 23, 1933, in Ashton, the daughter of Frank O. and Nellie M. (Hayes) Whitsell. She married Larry Winston Baugh on Jan. 14, 1952, in Dixon, and he survives.

She graduated from Gillespie High School with the class of 1951. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Litchfield, where she had helped with Vacation Bible School over the years.

In her leisure time, she enjoyed  bowling, sewing and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren.

She often volunteered her time serving with the Meals on Wheels program. She was a farm wife, but had also worked as a secretary at Gillespie High School, as well as a substitute school bus driver for Litchfield Community School District #12. 

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons, Wendell (Kathy) Baugh of Gillespie, Loren (Nancy) Baugh of Benld and Dale (Laura) Baugh of Staunton; three daughters, Janet Keistler of Springfield, Joyce (Roger) Fath of Hillsboro and Jacquelyn Niehaus of Litchfield; two brothers, Alvin (Vera) Whitsell of Litchfield and Roger (Cathy) Whitsell of Rochester; nine grandchildren, Stacey (Jennifer) Baugh, Jennifer Curtis, Evan (Beth) Baugh, Kristin (Matt) Armitage, Daniel (Ashley) Baugh, Julie Nelson, Chelsea LaPolice, Eric (Kaitlyn) Fath and Adam (Kayla) Fath; and 13 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Randall Baugh; and one son-in-law, Hal Keistler.

Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels or Alzheimer's Association.
