2.7 Percent COVID Positivity Before Thanksgiving

The Montgomery County Health Department reported 44 new confirmed COVID-19 coronavirus cases last week before the Thanksgiving holiday for a positivity rate of 2.7 percent through Wednesday.

The health department did not update on Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday.  Those daily updates will resume on Monday, Nov. 30.

Through Wednesday, Nov. 25, the health department reported 1,037 confirmed cases in Montgomery County since the pandemic began.

According to the Illinois Department of Corrections, 81 of the 88 staff members at Graham Correctional Center in Hillsboro have recovered after positive tests, as have 29 of 30 inmates there.

The Nokomis School District announced on Saturday, Nov. 28, that a student who was in attendance at North School on Wednesday, Nov. 25, tested positive.  Those who need to quarantine have been notified, and school will resume on Monday, Nov. 30.

The Litchfield School District announced on Sunday, Nov. 29, that three pre-K staff members tested positive.

“Following our conversation with the Montgomery County Health Department, it was determined that the pre-K will be closed and stay on remote learning from Monday, Nov. 30, through Friday, Dec. 4,” according to Superintendent Dr. Greggory Fuerstenau.  “Pre-K will resume classes on Monday, Dec. 7.”
