Agnes B. Holderread, 93

Agnes Bertha Holderread, 93, of Litchfield, died on Saturday, Sept. 5, 2020, at 7:02 p.m. at Heritage Health and Senior Care in Litchfield.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, Sept. 9, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. Funeral services will follow, beginning at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Cynthia Munker, pastor of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church of Litchfield, officiating. Burial will be held in Elm Lawn Cemetery in Litchfield. Those attending are asked to adhere to CDC guidelines by wearing masks and social distancing.

Mrs. Holderread was born Feb. 10, 1927, in Cahokia Township, south of Litchfield, to John Hans and Bertha Alvena (Prange) DeVries. She married Robert Holderread on Nov. 2, 1950, in Washington, MO, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 26, 1989.

She graduated from Mt. Olive High School with the class of 1944, and attended Illinois Business College in Springfield.

Over the years, Mrs. Holderread was employed at Allis-Chalmers in Springfield, Litchfield Creamery Company, Pfolsgrolf Jewelers and worked in the cafeteria at Litchfield Junior and Senior High School.

She was a member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield, where she served on the Altar Guild. She enjoyed floral gardening, playing pinochle, walking, traveling and riding her bike.

Mrs. Holderread is survived by her son, Adam (Jill) Holderread of Hillsboro; daughter, Sandra (Eric) Pigg of Litchfield; daughter-in-law, Marla Holderread of Litchfield; brother, Wayne (Dixie) DeVries of Benld; three sisters, Lora Roscetti of Springfield, Jeanette (Frank) Hoehn of Oceanside, CA, and Iris (Walter) Friesner of Mt. Olive; six grandchildren, Justin (Megan) Holderread, Neil (Brooke) Holderread, Blake Holderread, Jordan (Greg) Nelson, Bradley (Adrienne) Pigg and Levi (fiance Terra Hamby) Pigg; and six great-grandchildren, Lainey, Kaitlyn and Grady Holderread, Mila and Olivia Nelson, and Greyson Hopley.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; son, Mark Holderread; sisters, Ellen Hoefker and Wilma Sander; and granddaughter, Megan Holderread.
