Agnes Lavon Cripe Livingston, 88, of Highland, formerly of Greenville, Hillsboro and Pittsburgh, died at 2:45 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, 2024, in the emergency room in St. Joseph’s Hospital in Highland.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 14, at the Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville with the Rev. Dr. Ward Sussenbach officiating. The family will receive friends at Donnell-Wiegand from 11 a.m. on Thursday until service time. Interment will follow in Filmore-Glendale Cemetery in Filmore, IL.
Mrs. Livingston, the daughter of Roe Hubert Cripe and Millie Mancy Dickson Cripe, was born on Dec. 22, 1935, on the Cripe Farm near Pittsburgh in Fayette County. She was one of eight Cripe children. She grew up on the family farm and attended the one room schools in several parts of Bond County and graduated from Greenville High School in the class of 1953. She and Allen Lee Livingston were united in marriage on May 5, 1967, in Hillsboro, and only had 23 years together before his death on Feb. 17, 1990.
After graduation she worked for Rasler Plumbing for several years. After her marriage, she farmed alongside her husband on the farm south of Hillsboro. She was then a stay-at-home mom, caring for her two children. After Mr. Livingston’s death at age 59, Mrs. Livingston rejoined the workforce and worked for Kelly Services and for Shell Oil Company in Woodriver as a shipping clerk.
Mrs. Livingston is survived by her two children, Amy Lynn (Jerry) Brennan of Highland and Timothy Lloyd Livingston of Highland; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Nicole Livingston, Matthew Lloyd Livingston, Jerome (Brianna) Brennan and Skylar Brennan; three great-grandchildren: Camden, Grayson and Jaxon Brennan; and her last sibling, Elvin (Sue) Cripe of north of Greenville.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Allen; great-granddaughter Nylah Sullivan; and 6 siblings, Gerald Cripe, Lola Zeeb, Georgia Lurkins, Norma Stoecklin, Melba Perkins and Doris in infancy.
