Alan A. Schulte, 88, of Highland, died Sunday, Sept. 13, 2020, at HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in O’Fallon.
A private family visitation will be held at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, Sept. 18, at 10 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church in Highland. Private interment will be held in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Highland.
Mr. Schulte was born Jan. 29, 1932, in Breese, the son of John and Hildegarde (Rolfingsmeyer) Schulte. He married Angela M. Tebbe on Jan. 9, 1954, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Highland, and she preceded him in death on May 18, 1963. He then married Bernadine E. Diaber on Nov. 27, 1965, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Highland, and she preceded him in death on April 10, 2012.
He grew up in Breese. From 1951 to 1955, he was on active duty in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, and was overseas in Japan and Korea. He was honorably discharged as a Seaman First Class.
For five years, he worked for General Motors in St. Louis, MO, then as a lineman for the city of Highland. He retired as a lineman supervisor in 1992.
A member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Highland, he was a member of VFW Post 5694 of Highland and the Highland Sportsman’s Club. He loved fishing, hunting and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by sons, Clarence G. (Anne) Schulte of Bothell, WA, Ricky G. (Rebecca) Schulte of St. Rose and Jeffrey A. (Kristine) Schulte of Franklin; grandchildren, Sarah C. Schulte and Matthew S. Schulte, both of Bothell, WA, William P. Schulte of Bozeman, MT, James A. (Katelin) Schulte of Aviston, Thomas G. (Trisha) Schulte of Hillsboro, Morgan K. Schulte of Jacksonville and Kaitlin R. Schulte of Franklin; and two great-grandchildren, Kaden Schulte and Aurora Noelle Schulte.
In addition to his parents and two wives, he was preceded in death by his brother, David Schulte.
Memorials may be made St. Paul Catholic Church or Faith Care Center Apartments.
