Alberta Anna McMillen, 92, of Carlinville, died Saturday, Oct. 19, 2019, at HSHS St. John's Hospital in Springfield.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 22, at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville with the Rev. Cliff Woodman officiating. Burial was held in Prairie Lawn Cemetery.

Mrs. McMillen was born July 8, 1927, in Kampsville, to August and Emma (Hartman) Gansz. She married Vernon H. McMillen on  June 6, 1945, in East Alton, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 7, 2002.

She worked in housekeeping at Carlinville Rehabilitation Center. In her younger years, she worked at the Carlinville Glove Factory, Tiel's Restaurant and Davenport's Restaurant, all in Carlinville, and The Gardens restaurant in Litchfield.

Known for her baking, especially her homemade buns, she loved sewing, making clothes for herself and her family and quilting. She was foremost a great mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She is survived by two sons, John (April) McMillen of Carlinville and Tom McMillen of Pontiac; daughter, Debra Hudson of Carlinville; 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; sister, Irene Flowers of Wood River; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by sons, Terry McMillen and Ronald McMillen and her granddaughter, Krista Kirchner.
