Alvin J. Seelbach, 75

Alvin Joseph “Cookie” Seelbach, 75, of Breese, formerly of Farmersville, died on Thursday morning, March 19, 2020, at HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in O’Fallon.

Private services will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Farmersville with Father Albert Allen officiating. Burial will follow at St. Martin’s Cemetery in Farmersville. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Hough Funeral Home in Farmersville is assisting the family.

Mr. Seelbach was born July 2, 1942, in Litchfield, to Alvin and Gertrude (Murphy) Seelbach. He married Delores Stottler on Oct. 10, 1964, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Farmersville, and she preceded him in death on Jan. 25, 2013.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Parish in Farmersville, where he served as church choir member, and was a part of the Knights of Columbus.

Mr. Seelbach enjoyed going to his grandchildren’s school and sporting events and spending time with family and friends. An avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, he loved watching all sports.

He is survived by his daughters, Michelle (Phil) Pingsterhaus of Aviston and Megan (friend Todd Johnson) Charlton of Manito; six grandchildren, Ally, Ryan and Luke Pingsterhaus and Rickey, Bella and Elizabeth Charlton; two brothers, Bob (Helga) Seelbach of Virden and Bill (Judy) Seelbach of Farmersville; sister-in-law, Nadine Rhine; brother-in-law, Bill (Barb) Stottler; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Seelbach was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Dale (Dugan) Seelbach and James Seelbach.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Mary’s Parish in Farmersville, Mater Dei Catholic High School in Breese or Emmanuel Warehouse Foundation in Manito.
