Amos T. Segrest, 85, of Hillsboro, died Monday, Nov. 9, 2020, at 1:07 p.m. at his residence.

Cremation rites were accorded and no services are planned at this time. Toberman-Dean Funeral Home in Coffeen is assisting the family.

Mr. Segrest was born Sept. 3, 1935, in Taylor Springs, the son of  the late Charles M. and Lela M. (Hancock) Segrest. He married Mabel Agney on Nov. 4, 1960, in Litchfield, and she survives.

He was in the army from 1955 to 1959. During his lifetime, he lived in the Taylor Springs and Hillsboro area. From 1966 to 1993, he was the water and sewer superintendent for Taylor Springs. He was a member of Taylor Springs Baptist Church.

He is survived by three children, Roy (wife Brenda) Segrest, Sr., Steve Segrest and Mary (husband Jeff) Combs; seven grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and brother, Rex (wife Lois) Segrest.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Charles Segrest on Feb. 23, 2017; four half-brothers; and one half-sister.
