Andrew Alec Rosentreter, 58, of Hillsboro, died on Tuesday, June 25, 2019, at 9:42 p.m.

Visitation will be held Saturday, June 29, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. Funeral services will follow, beginning at 12 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Jon Magnuson, of Beacon Church in Litchfield, officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services. The family requests casual attire for services.

Mr. Rosentreter was born Dec. 6, 1960, in Carlinville, to Norman Alexander and Mary Viola (Walton) Rosentreter. He married Dawn Marie (Abel) Elliot on Aug. 9, 2014, in Butler, and she survives.

He graduated from Hillsboro High School with the class of 1978 and continued his education at Lincoln Land Community College, where he earned an associates degree.

Mr. Rosentreter was a self-employed insurance agent at Rosentreter Insurance Agency in Hillsboro, and previously served on the Hillsboro Volunteer Fire Department and as an EMT for Hillsboro Ambulance Service.

He was a member of the Catholic faith and Rising Sun Martial Arts program in Hillsboro. He enjoyed making jewelry, cut glass art, yard work, gardening, fishing and his pets. He also loved wine tasting.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Rosentreter is survived by his two daughters, Francesca (Bobby) Ellis of Hillsboro and Dawn Rosentreter of Litchfield; one stepdaughter, Valerie Elliot of Hillsboro; four sisters, Mary Herschelman of Carlinville, Pamela Sutherland and Janet Rosentreter, both of Springfield, and Norma (Bill) Plowman of Hillsboro; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers-in-law, Lyndal Herschelman and Marty Sutherland; and two grandchildren.
