Mrs. Grundy was born on Sept. 18, 1932, in Hewittville, the daughter of William and Margaret (Young) Scott.  She married her one true love, John Robert “Bob” Grundy on Jan. 28, 1953, and he preceded her in death on March 3, 2002.

Mrs. Grundy was a farmwife who had to adapt quickly to farming and caring for livestock after marrying. She was an excellent homemaker, making delicious cakes and ensuring her flowers, especially her roses, were cared for. Mrs. Grundy was, most importantly, an amazing grandmother and a “fill-in” grandma to several. She spent many days caring for her grandkids, who have several wonderful memories with her.  She was a proud member of St. Maurice Catholic Church and the National Catholic Society of Foresters, as well as a St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan. She  will be remembered  for her fiery spirit and kindness by those who loved her.

Mrs. Grundy is survived by her children, Catherine Ann (Bill) O’Connell and Bobby (Penny) Grundy, both of Morrisonville; grandchildren, Jon (Shannon) O’Connell, Blaine (Ashlyn) O’Connell, Justin O’Connell, Cassie O’Connell, Matthew (Heidi) Grundy, Jamie (Craig) Moore and Lindsay Grundy; great-grandchildren, Cash, Brady, Charlotte, Olivia, Brock, Teagan, Harper, Ross, Avery, Mia, Mabel and Nolan; brothers, Donald Scott and Leon (Beverly) Scott, both of Taylorville and Russell (Nancy) Scott of California; sister, Mary Lou Clayton of Mt. Auburn; sisters-in-law, Helen “Shorty” Healy and Mary “Mae” (Walt) Hilby of Springfield, Ruth “Tip” (Bob) Matli of Harvel, Alice “Pudge” (Kirk) Downey and Rose (Bob) Gowin, both of Morrisonville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins who loved her very much.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Catherine Bailey, Bernard Scott, and Shirley Conaway.
