Ann G. Wagner, 82, of Hillsboro, died on Monday, Aug. 3, at 7:35 a.m. at Montgomery Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Taylor Springs.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 11, beginning at 2 p.m. at Ware’s Grove Cemetery in rural Butler, with the Rev. Matt Ferguson of the First Presbyterian Church in Hillsboro, officiating. Burial will be at Ware’s Grove Cemetery.

Family and friends will meet at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro at 1:30 p.m. to process to Ware’s Grove Cemetery. Funeral personnel will follow CDC guidelines with the use of masks and social distancing.

Mrs. Wagner was born on June 20, 1938, in Birmingham, AL, to the late Benjamin Franklin and Madeline (Shivers) Wheeler. She married Robert Wagner in Birmingham, AL, on Nov. 14, 1959, and he survives in Hillsboro.

During her lifetime, Mrs. Wagner lived in Alabama, Nashville, TN, East Helena, MT, Columbus, OH, and Hillsboro. After graduating from Hensley High School in Alabama, she went to Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN, to earn her bachelor’s degree in nursing.

A registered nurse, Mrs. Wagner worked several years as a teacher’s aide at Beckemeyer Elementary School in Hillsboro. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Hillsboro and loved to read and spend time with her family.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Wagner is survived by two children, Scott Wagner of St. Charles, MO, and Elizabeth (Gary) Davis of Hazelwood, MO; and five grandchildren, Hannah Davis, Madeline Wagner, Grant Wagner, Kristen Wagner and Andrew Wagner.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Keith Wagner in 2009.

The family suggests memorials to the Juvenile Diabetes Association.
