Ann R. Volkmar, 66, of Sorento, died on Friday, June 2, 2023, at HSHS Family Hospital in Greenville.

Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 am. on Friday, June 16, at Perfetti-Assalley Funeral Home, located at 201 S. Main Street in Sorento. Memorial services will begin at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. A private burial will be held at Sunnyside Cemetery, in rural Sorento, following the memorial service. Perfetti-Assalley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Ms. Volkmar was born on May 16, 1957, in Litchfield, the daughter of James Wellington and Laura Jean (Schneck) Kessler. She attended Sorento Elementary School, before transferring to and graduating from Bond County CUSD #2 High School with the Class of 1975.  After high school, Ms. Volkmar devoted herself to raising her three children, providing for them and making sure all their needs were cared for. Later, she worked at Capri IGA in Hillsboro, Cruthis Store, in Sorento, the Litchfield Walmart, Aramark, in Highland, and Carlisle Syntec in Greenville.

Ms. Volkmar could be described as a dedicated employee. She was dedicated to her family and was a compassionate, loving, and caring person who would help anyone in need.Ms. Volkmar was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post #3912, a thrifting and yard sale expert, and loved most of all spending time with her grandchildren.

Ms. Volkmar is survived by her mother; children, Jeremy Volkmar of Prairie du Rocher, Brandon (Carrie) Volkmar of Sikeston, MO, and Sara (Chris) Burris of Litchfield; grandchildren, Shyenne Kampworth of Marine, Joseph Chalupny of Waterloo, Ethan Chalupny of Waterloo, Noah Chalupny of Waterloo, Emma Chalupny of Waterloo, C.J. Burris of Litchfield, Myla Burris of Litchfield and Jack Burris of Litchfield; siblings, Deb (Richard) Cox of Walshville,  Jill (Keith) Binney of Mt. Olive, Rhonda Stapleton of Pevely, MO, Linda Cole of Litchfield, Steve (Teresa) Kessler of Sorento and Mike (Lisa) Kessler of New Douglas: her longtime companion, Vernon Dempkey of Alhambra.

She was preceded in death by her father.
