The Skyview Drive-In Theater, just off of Historic Route 66 in Litchfield, is getting ready to open for its 69th season.
Opening weekend will kick off on Friday, April 12, and Saturday, April 13, with a newly released double feature. The films to be shown will be announced by Skyview Drive-In at a later date. On Sunday, April 14, the throwback "Smokey and the Bandit" will be the featured movie at the drive-in.
When in season, from early April until early October, there are two shows played every Friday and Saturday night, starting at dusk. Tickets are only $5 per person and children under five get in free. There is a special $3 ticket price for throwback Sunday movies, which are held in conjunction with Litchfield's Pickers Markets on the second Sunday of each month.
The much anticipated throwback films are one of the ways that owners Pastro Properties Inc., (Mike, Debbie, Nick and Mindy Pastrovich of Litchfield) have added a communal touch to Litchfield's historic theater. This year's fan-favorite throwback lineup includes "Smokey and the Bandit" on Sunday, April, 14; "The Sound of Music" on Sunday, May 12; "Dirty Harry" on Sunday, June 9; "Goonies" on Sunday, July 14; "Stand By Me" on Sunday, Aug. 11; and "Psycho" on Sunday, Sept. 8.
