Stop number two on the IXCR cross country racing series schedule was on April 10-11, with racers hitting the hills and hollers of Deer Ridge in Greencastle, IN.
Morrisonville’s Jhak Walker would be one of the biggest winners on the day, taking first in the Super Mini (8-15) class with a time of 1:03:47. Walker, one of three members of his family to race in Indiana, was also the top overall finisher in the entire youth division.
The oldest and youngest of the Walker family at IXCR would finish fifth and 12th respectively. Jhenner Walker ran fifth in the 50cc 12” (4-8) class, completing six laps in 31:30. His older brother, Jhadyn, raced in the pro class and finished 12th overall as he continues to get back into the swing of racing following an accident last November.
Walshville’s Travis Lentz also had a good day after some trouble at the start of his race in the 65cc (7-12) class. Lentz worked his way up from the back to take fourth in the 21-racer field, running a time of 1:08:39 for three laps.
Other area racers included Mason Wise of Carlinville, who was 13th in the Super Mini class and Lake Plowman of Waverly, who was fourth in A Lite class. Round three of the IXCR series will be on April 24-25, at Lee Farms in Martinsville, IN.
