Arlene Barnes, 93, of Sheboygan, WI., died on Friday, Nov. 5, 2021.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, Nov. 20. at 11 a.m. at Oak Grove Cemetery in Hillsboro. The Rev. Matt Ferguson, Pastor of Hillsboro Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Dean Funeral Homes is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Barnes was born on December 17, 1927, daughter of Rule and Bernice Abrams of Pana. She married William J. Barnes on July 30, 1945 and they resided in Hillsboro for many years. Mr. Barnes died in 1975. She later met companion Fred Mitchell.
She was known to be a very proud and independent woman to the very end, and lived a long, full life. She and Mr. Mitchell spent many happy times in Florida and Canada until he died in 1998.
Mrs. Barnes is survived by daughters Barbara Walker (husband Dr. Philip), and Polly Barnes, both of Sheboygan, WI; grandsons Robert B. (wife Jen) Walker of Gardnerville, NV, Dr. Matthew P. (wife Odette) Walker, of Middlebury, VT and Amsterdam, The Netherlands, and Dr. Benjamin J. (wife Dr. Roberta Strigel) Walker, of Madison, WI; great-grandchildren Matthew, Ty and Will of Nevada, Laszlo, Sepp and Silas of Amsterdam, and Olivia and Simon of Madison; sister Gloria Webb, of Harlingen, TX; and nieces and nephews Mark, Susan, and Anthony.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
