Kevin Arnold picked up a win by rear naked choke in his first match at the IMMAF-WMMAA Amateur MMA World Championships, which are being held in Bahrain between Nov. 11 and Nov. 16.
Arnold, formerly of Litchfield, took down Kimmo Meier of Estonia twice in the early going and locked in the choke with 1:16 left in the match in the last fight of the day in the heavyweight division.
Arnold's next match will be against Rayan Chaieb of France, with an expected start time between 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. central time on Nov. 12 in the U.S. Chaieb had a bye in the first round of the tournament. The winner of that match will face either Gadzhimurad Bagaudinov of Russia or Salif Diop of Sweden in the round of eight.
