Arthur Leo Malcom, 79, of Hillsboro, died on Monday, June 18, 2018, at 10:50 p.m. at Montgomery Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Hillsboro.

Visitation will be held Friday, June 22, from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Hillsboro. Rev. Ralph Ward will officiate. A funeral dinner will follow the services and a graveside committal will be at 2 p.m. at Moro Cemetery in Moro.

Mr. Malcom was born on Dec. 8, 1938, in Dederick, MO, the son of Everett Leo and Lucille Elizabeth (Kimbro) Malcom. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving during peacetime.

He married Kathy Hacket in 1959 and they later divorced. Mr. Malcom married Judy L. Voyles in 1975, and they later divorced. In 2015, he was united in blessing to Betty J. Rhodes in Hillsboro and she survives.

Mr. Malcom was self employed and owned Malcom Electric for 30 years. He also previously worked as an electrician and welder for Schein Equipment Company in Carlinville, as well as a mold board set-up man for milling bulldozer blades at Allis-Chalmers/Fiat Allis in Springfield. He was also ABS certified and U.S. Coast Guard certified in all his welding positions.

Outside of work, Mr. Malcom was a member of the United Methodist Church in Hillsboro, where he enjoyed Bible study group. He was a member and post commander of Kniery-Knagg Post 436 American Legion and a member of the Marine Corps League, Hillsboro Senior Citizens and a volunteer at Quad County Hospice in Pana.

Mr. Malcom enjoyed dancing, pinochle, cryptograms, reading, pitching horseshoes, bowling and woodworking.

In addition to Miss Rhodes, Mr. Malcom is survived by two daughters, Kelly Malcom of Springfield and Phyllis Putnam of Forsythe, MO; a stepson, Eric Burdell of Litchfield; a brother, Edward Kimbro of Highland; five sisters, Dorothy Vincent of Taylor Springs, Sue Gual of Kansas City, KS, Nadine Ford of Pana, Virginia Ford of Pana and Alice Grimm of Pana and one grandchild, Corey.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, toddler, Orin Kimbro and Allen Kimbro in infancy.

The family suggests memorials to the Litchfield Veterans Memorial Garden or Quad County Hospice.
