Barbara A. Osborn, 85, of Washington, formerly of Raymond, died on Saturday, Aug. 5, 2023, at Manor Court in Peoria.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, Aug. 10, at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Burial was at Glendale Cemetery in Washington. Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory assisted the family with arrangements.

Mrs. Osborn was born June 27, 1938, in Irving,  to Otis and Vona (Matthews) Cook and was adopted by Carson Hagood following her father’s death. She married Barry Osborn on Sept. 1, 1957, in Rosamond and he preceded her in death in 2021.

Mrs. Osborn never knew a stranger and showered everyone she met with love and kindness. She worked for many years at Washington State Bank as a teller and enjoyed many close friendships with co-workers and customers. Throughout her life, she was involved in many clubs and activities such as Newcomers Club, card clubs, bowling leagues and Bible studies. A talented seamstress, Mrs. Osborn spent countless hours sewing for her family and friends over the years and made many beautiful quilts. She was a devout Christian who made it a priority to read her Bible and pray each day. She was a member of Washington Christian Church for many years. As one of the many ways she helped others, she was a regular blood donor at the American Red Cross.

Even as her mind began to fail her, Mrs. Osborn remained cheerful, optimistic and grateful. She could be counted on for a warm compliment or friendly greeting. Her friends and family will forever cherish the special things about her including her “Barbisms.”

Mrs. Osborn is survived by her children, Lisa (Dan) Heinz of Peoria, Nathan (Kate) Osborn of Johnson Creek, WI, and Courtney Junker of Washington; grandchildren, Andy (Rachel), Brendan (Felicia) and Lexie Heinz, Chelsea, Miranda and Teagan Osborn, and Jacob and Emily Junker and Ed, Bea and Maisy Osborn; great-grandchildren, Selma Heinz and Tommy Heinz. She is also survived by her sisters, Melva (Bob) Smith, Sharon (Keith, deceased) Lockwood, Gloria (Ted) Mathewson and Linda Hagood, with whom she enjoyed close relationships.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Kris Osborn in 2021; and a brother, Bill Hagood in 2021.
