Beatrice "Bea" E. Carter, 84, of Hillsboro,died on Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2019, at her home.
Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 4, at Miller Funeral Home in Vandalia. Services will follow after at the funeral home, with Pastor Joe Lawson officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Miller Funeral Home of Vandalia is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mrs. Carter was born on June 21, 1935, in St. Elmo, to Ruth (Beck) Scoles Dunnaway. She married Dean E. Carter on April 17, 1954, in St. Elmo, he preceded her in death on April 27, 2012. Mrs. Carter was formerly employed in the bakery department at Capri IGA in Hillsboro. She was a homemaker who loved animals, humming birds, baking and reading.
Mrs Carter is survived by her daughters, LaDeana "Deana" (Alan) Criswell of Mt. Vernon, IN, and Robin LeAnna Carter of Hillsboro; sister-in-law, Joyce Carter of Vandalia; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers, Buddy, Elvis and Woody; and sister, Carol "Sis".
