Bert Elroy Land, 88, of Litchfield, died Thursday, Jan. 7, 2021, at 11:09 a.m. at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Jan. 10, at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield with the Rev. Jim Wagahoff, pastor of Blessed Hope Baptist Church in Raymond, officiating. Burial was held in Cedar Ridge Cemetery in Honey Bend with military honors.

Mr. Land was born March 14, 1932, in Raymond, a son of Ebert and Margaret (Masters) Land. He married the former Thelma Arlene Johnson on June 24, 1956, in Hamilton, and she preceded him in death on July 12, 2000. He then married the former Marilyn J. Smith on July 28, 2001, and she preceded him in death on Jan. 9, 2013.

For several years, he was the elevator manager for O.K. Grain Company in Barnett. He farmed for many years near Barnett until his retirement in 1997. A member of the Blessed Hope Baptist Church in Raymond, he enjoyed going to antique tractor shows, homecoming celebrations and bluegrass festivals.

He is survived by three daughters, Julie (Rick) Wilson of Flintstone, GA, Deborah (Edward) Ragland of Huntsville, AL, and Marcea (Carl) Boward of Middletown; a brother, Byron G. Land of Litchfield; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Norma Lawrence of Litchfield.

In addition to his parents and two wives, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Craig Michael Land, and a brother, Roger Land.
