Betty I. Burnett, 90, of Springfield, died on Friday, Dec. 25, 2020, at 7:10 p.m. at Lewis Memorial Christian Village in Springfield.

Private graveside ceremonies will be held at Woodwreath Cemetery near New Berlin. Butler Funeral Home in Springfield is assisting the family.

Mrs. Burnett was born Jan. 7, 1930, in Farmersville, to Marion “Bud” and Myrtle (Sharp) Brown. She married Bernard Brown on Oct. 20, 1951, and he preceded her in death in 2003. She later married Ivan Burnett on Sept. 27, 2007, at the First United Methodist Church in Springfield, and he preceded her in death on May 20, 2013.

She was a graduate of Farmersville High School. During her career, she worked with the Illinois Department of Mental Health and served as secretary for Woodside Methodist Church.

Mrs. Burnett was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was a past officer of the Christian Women’s Club, and served at the state and local levels of the United Commercial Travelers of America. She was also a Sunday School teacher for many years.

She is survived by her brother, David (wife Linda) Brown of Raymond; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her husbands, Mrs. Burnett was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Donald E. Brown; and sister, Lois Brockmeyer.
