Betty Jane Wendel, 80, of Litchfield, died Friday, June 15, 2018, at 3:30 p.m. at her home.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 20, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. A private family graveside committal service will be held Saturday, June 23, at 11 a.m. at Elmwood Cemetery in Litchfield.
Mrs. Wendel was born on July 23, 1937 in Lewistown, PA, the daughter of Edward and Dorothy (Corson) Henry. She married August John Wendel on Nov. 5, 1958, in Litchfield, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 24, 2006.
After graduating high school, she worked for the state of Illinois for the Department of Children and Family Services, then worked as a dietary assistant at St. Francis Hospital for 18 years until she retired.
A member of the Women of the Moose, Mrs. Wendel enjoyed antiquing, traveling, visiting historic sites and spending time with her family.
She is survived by son, Dennis Wendel of Litchfield; daughters, Crystal (Larry) Epps of Litchfield, Jenny (Doug) Pezold of Walshville, and Selena (Mark) Brazel of Litchfield; and brothers, Terry (Joanne) Henry of Burnham, PA, George (Thelma) Henry of Lewistown, PA, and Robert Henry of Holiday, FL.
Mrs. Wendel is also survived by 14 grandchildren, Dustin (Stacey) Wendel, Mitch (Paula) Wendel, Sidney (Corey) Clark, KayLynn Carter (companion James Rhodes), John Carter (companion Tanya Sellers), Kevin Carter (fiance Amie Dever), Seth Epps, Brittney (Dane) Fletcher, Logan (Shawna) Pezold, Layton Pezold (companion Eaden Fleming), Brooke Pezold, Ceara Brazel (fiancee Schuyler Kalaher), Adam Brazel (companion Taylor Gutierrez) and Hannah Brazel and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one sister, Patsy Henry-McCaffrey.
