Betty Jean (Thacker) Toberman, 96, of Sarasota, FL, formerly of Coffeen, died on Thursday, July 11, 2019, in Sarasota, FL.

Graveside services will be conducted Friday, July 19, beginning at 1 p.m. at Olive Hill Cemetery in Coffeen with the Rev. Kevin Simburger, associate pastor of Grace Fellowship Church in Fillmore, officiating. Burial will follow. Toberman-Dean Funeral Home in Coffeen is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Toberman was born Sept. 17, 1922, in Fillmore, to Wade C. and Noble Mae (Rogers) Thacker.She married Donald Rice Toberman on Oct. 25, 1942, in Old Monroe, MO, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 31, 1983.

She served as a postal worker during her career and volunteered at the prison by teaching inmates how to read.

During her lifetime, Mrs. Toberman lived in Coffeen and Sarasota, FL. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by a daughter, Melissa Toberman of Florida; several nieces and nephews, Susan (Jerry) Mehrkens, Amy Thacker, Gary (Heidi) Thacker, Brad Thacker, Bob (Cindy) Thacker, Bill (Roseanne) Thacker and Alan (Sherri) Thacker; and several great-nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Toberman was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, William and Robert Thacker.
