Betty Lou Berry, 77, of Vandalia, died Friday, Oct. 23, 2020, at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

Graveside services and interment will be held Wednesday, Nov. 4, at 11 a.m. in McInturff Cemetery in Vandalia. Hohlt and File Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Ms. Berry was born March 23, 1943, in Vandalia, the daughter of Burle and Thelma (Elder) Tedrick.

She previously worked as a waitress at the Patio and Reaban’s restaurants. Later in life she became a crossing guard for over 20 years. She was a member of the Vandalia VFW Post #3862 Ladies Auxiliary and the Vandalia American Legion Auxiliary, where she also volunteered her time for several years. She was affiliated with Unity Baptist Church, formerly Temple Baptist Church of Vandalia.

Ms. Berry is survived by her son, Carl (wife Jami) Berry of Coffeen; stepson, Marc Berry of Vandalia; grandchildren, Cody (wife Jennera) Clark and Philip (wife Brandi) Goodin; and great-grandchildren, Brayden, Ady, Bella and Jaxin.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
