Betty Louise Miles, 93, of Springfield, died on Tuesday, April 28, 2020, at home.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Staab Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mrs. Miles was born on Dec. 14, 1926, in Columbus Junction, IA, to Jesse and Marie Cassabaum. She married Donald Atchison Miles on Oct. 27, 1951, he preceded her in death Feb. 26, 2007.
Mrs. Miles was a retired school teacher for District #186 in Springfield. She loved teaching. It was the only career she ever wanted and she even taught in the same one room school house, in Iowa, as her mother and aunt. Mrs. Miles was a faithful member of Knox Knolls Free Methodist Church in Springfield. In her spare time, she loved her flowers, reading, Scrabble, crossword puzzles and visiting her children and their families.
Mrs. Miles is survived by her children, Donita Khouri of Orlando, FL, Janece (Jim) Sjostrom of St. Cloud, FL, Becki (Jay) Martin of Witt and Jim (Marti) Miles of Indianapolis, IN; ten grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
She preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; and two sisters.
