Beverly “Bev” Ann Weitekamp, 82, of Morrisonville, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2023, at her residence.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 26, at Perfetti-Assalley Funeral Home, located at 304 Carlin St. in Morrisonville.Funeral mass will be held 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 27, at St. Maurice Catholic Church, located at 706 SE 4th St. in Morrisonville, with the Rev. John T. Hannigan and the Rev. Florent Kanga concelebrating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville.

Mrs. Weitekamp was born May 11, 1941, in Macon County,, the daughter of Eldo and Emily (Steck) Harrell. She graduated from Taylorville High School with the class of 1959 and went to work for the local phone company for several years. Mrs. Weitekamp married Dale Weitekamp on May 2, 1964, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville, and from then on worked in the home as a babysitter for many local families. She babysat for over 45 years.

Mrs. Weitekamp was a caring and generous woman and loved social events. She was a member of St. Maurice Catholic Church in Morrisonville, where she was also a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. Mrs. Weitekamp loved reading, crossword puzzles, board games, western movies and she was a Fighting Illini Basketball fanatic.

Mrs. Weitekamp is survived by her children, Jeff (Jean) Weitekamp of Morrisonville and Susie (Steve) Gragert of Rochester; grandchildren, Luke Gragert, Mattie Gragert and Lance Weitekamp; brother, Robert Harrell of Pekin; sisters-in-law, Mary Lorraine (Jerry) Spurgeon of Carlinville and Darlene (Ray) O’Brien of Morrisonville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Mary Nolan and Janet Fulk-Nolan.

Carpenter Street, Springfield, IL 62769. Donations of food may be brought to the Knights of Columbus Hall #1151 in Morrisonville on Friday morning.
