Billy Pogue, 89, of Butler, died on Sept. 29, 2023 at Montgomery Nursing and Rehab Center in Hillsboro.
He will be laid to rest beside his wife at Waresgrove Cemetery in Butler. Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Mr. Pogue was born on Oct. 25,1933, in Scottsburg, IN, to Ralph and Inez Pogue. He was an U.S. Army Veteran and a fuel systems specialist with Cummins Engine Company. He lived in various places throughout his life including Indiana, California, Missouri and Illinois. He was “the life of the party.” He loved spending time with family and friends, always cracking jokes when the opportunity struck. His personality was infectious and he made friends wherever he went. He donned his patchwork tweed hat on every outing. He also enjoyed camping, traveling and working puzzles.
He is survived by his two daughters, Billie Ann (Jerry Sammons) of Butler and Kathy Miner (Garry) of Scottsburg, IN, and his son Todd Pogue (Jo) of Ripon, CA; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister Francis Adams.
Mr. Pogue was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Peggy R. Pogue; brother Bob Pogue and sister Thelma Bridgewater.
