Bremer Sanctuary Plans Open House

Posted

Bremer Wildlife Sanctuary will host their last open house of the year from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 17.

Those interested are invited to check out the many splendors the property has to offer. Volunteer stewards will be available to answer questions about the sanctuary. An easy hike or wagon ride around the barn area will leave at 1:30 and 2:30 p.m. Attendees will learn about the sanctuary’s history and future goals.

Make sure to stick around for the “Owls of Illinois” program, which will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. at the sanctuary. Attendees will learn to identify the hoots of different species of owls, which owls call Illinois home and which are winter migratory visitors.

Following a PowerPoint presentation, participants will get the chance to observe the many owl posters on display and dissect an owl pellet. Child attendees will be able to make a take-home craft.

Social distancing and masks will be required in the Education Barn.

While the family friendly event is free, donations are welcome. Bremer Sanctuary is located at 194 Bremer Lane in Hillsboro. More information about the sanctuary may be found online at www.bremersanctuary.org, including updates on the annual New Year’s Day 2022 hike.
