Brent Grapperhaus, 41

Brent Grapperhaus, 41, of Hamel, died on Wednesday, April 29, 2020, at 7:10 p.m. at his parents’ home in Nashville with family by his side.

Due to social distancing guidelines that prohibit public gatherings, a private service will be held at Campagna Funeral Home in Nashville. A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.

Mr. Grapperhaus was born Nov. 13, 1978, in Breese, to Daniel and Janet (Meyer) Grapperhaus.

He worked in the maintenance department at Illinois Tool Works in Litchfield. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing guitar and writing his own music. He also enjoyed fishing, riding his motorcycle and spending time with his family.

Mr. Grapperhaus had a true passion for attending different Renaissance and German festivals, and enjoyed a good craft brew from a local brewery.

He is survived by his wife, Kristyn Mayfield of Alton; two sons, Vaughan Grapperhaus of Alton and Landon Grapperhaus of Beckemeyer; parents of Nashville; two sisters, Melissa (significant other Tim Kirchner) Grapperhaus of Nashville and Serena (husband Blake) Wisneski of Venedy; four nieces and nephews, Elijah and Mylah, and Ryker and Brylee Wisneski; and aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.

Mr. Grapperhaus was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Paul and Mary Ann Meyer; paternal grandparents, Arnold and Jeanette Grapperhaus; two uncles, Charlie Grapperhaus and Chuck Schlarmann; and an aunt, Betty Vollmer.

Memorials may be directed to educational funds for his sons and will be accepted at Campagna Funeral Home.
