Brian Christopher Lingley, 45, of Greenville, died Monday, May 10, 2021, at his home.

Visitation will be held Thursday, May 13, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Greenville. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 14, at 11 a.m. at the church with Pastor Jeffery Nehrt officiating. Interment will follow in McKendree Chapel Cemetery in Keyesport. Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Lingley was born May 24, 1975, the son of Dennis and Carol (Neumann) Lingley. He married Crystal Rae Willmirth on June 10, 2000, and she survives.

Growing up on the family farm south of Greenville, he attended the local schools and graduated from Greenville High School with the class of 1993. He then went to Kaskaskia College, where he obtained his associate’s degree in criminal justice. He then went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in administration of justice from Southern Illinois at Carbondale. He worked for the Illinois Department of Corrections for over 20 years. He started as a correctional officer at Graham Correctional Center, then was promoted to correctional counselor. Most recently, he was promoted to parole officer, working in the East St. Louis region.

He enjoyed spending time with his boys, fishing, hunting and boating. He spent many summer days on Governor Bond Lake as a member of the Ski Club. He especially enjoyed duck hunting with his boys and dearest friends, and had a place where he and his friends often went. When he wasn’t busy at work or enjoying the outdoors, he could be found watching his boys play sports or helping on the family farm. He and his wife were members of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Greenville, where he was an elder of the church.

In addition to his parents and wife, he is survived by three sons, Brady, Layne and Cody; sister, Julie (husband Dylan) Elders; sister-in-law, Cassie (husband Kyle) Hollenkamp; nieces and nephews, Morgan Wilderman, Grant Wilderman, Caroline Elders, Brennan Willmirth, Nora Hollenkamp and Nate Hollenkamp; and many close friends.

Memorials may be made to the family, for the boys, in lieu of flowers.
