Carole Kay (Ronk) Terneus, 77, of Chesterfield, MO, died on Wednesday, May 20, 2020.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A private family graveside memorial will be held at a later date at St. Agnes Cemetery in Hillsboro. Shrader Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family.

Mrs. Terneus was born Dec. 6, 1942, in Hillsboro, to Andrew Ronk and Mary Hapner. She married Tom Terneus on Sept. 12, 1964, and he survives.

She graduated with honors from Hillsboro High School with the class of 1961, and attended the University of Kentucky in Henderson, KY.

Mrs. Terneus worked as an executive secretary at St. Louis State School and Hospital for several years before deciding to stay at home and raise her daughters.

She was an avid reader, loved crossword puzzles, playing cards, animals and most of all, her grandchildren. Her bedtime stories, homemade noodles and fudge were special treats to the family.

In addition to her husband of 55 years, Mrs. Terneus is survived by her daughters, Tammy (Brian) Legate of Chesterfield, MO, and Tessa (Troy) Buescher of Peoria; grandchildren, Katie, Jacob and Christie Legate, Austin (Rachel), Chase and Tara Buescher; and sisters, Tanya Gorman and Catha (Jim) Yount.

She was preceded in death by her parents; aunts, Catherine Nevels and Dorothy Merry; uncle, Harold Nevels; sister, Myrna Sue Wilson; brothers-in-law, Don Wilson and Marty Gorman; brother, Kevin Hapner; stepfather, John Hapner; and niece, Tara Gorman.
