Charles William Grove, 69, of Atwater, died Friday afternoon, Dec. 25, 2020, at his residence.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, Jan. 7, at 11 a.m. in Mitchell Cemetery, south of Carlinville, with the Rev. David Knoblich officiating. Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville is assisting the family.
Mr. Grove was born March 23, 1951, in Dorchester Township, to George and Dora (Price) Grove. He married Jeanie Kampmann on July 11, 1980, in Hillsboro, and she survives.
He worked for Joe Jacobs Farms, retiring in Feb. of 2012. He enjoyed tinkering on things, such as lawn mowers and other lawn equipment, and was an avid gardener, where he also raised chickens. He loved giving eggs away and playing cards with family and friends.
In addition to his wife, Jeanie Grove of Raymond, he is survived by two daughters, Kim (Robert, Sr.) Steward of Raymond and Heather (fiance Jesse Schneider) Grove of St. Charles, MO; two sons, Shawn (Darcy) Grove of Raymond and Phoenix Grove of Portland, ME; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers, Harold Grove, Larry Grove, Danny Grove, Dave Grove, James Grove and Don Grove; and a sister, Sally Hawkins.
