Clara Ann Tilling, 94, of Hillsboro, died on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2020, at 10:22 a.m. at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
A private graveside service will be conducted at St. John’s Cemetery in Coffeen with the Rev. James Hayes, pastor of St. James Baptist Church in Hillsboro, officiating. Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro is assisting the family.
Mrs. Tilling was born Oct. 25, 1925, in Hillsboro, to Martin and Annie (Dragon) Lenich. She married Thurman E. Tilling on July 31, 1948, in Coffeen, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 23, 1995.
A 1943 graduate of Hillsboro High School, she worked at Hillsboro Glass Factory and became a homemaker.
Mrs. Tilling was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Hillsboro. During her lifetime, she resided in Nokomis for a short time, and Hillsboro.
She is survived by her two daughters, Deborah (Lee) Tilling and Marjorie (Ron) Havenar.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Tilling was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Thurman E. “Eddie” Tilling and Fred M. Tilling; and one brother.
