Clarice L. Ruppert, 98

Clarice L. (Bagley) Ruppert, 98, of Litchfield, formerly of Nokomis, died on Saturday, May 6, 2023.

Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Monday, May 8, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Nokomis.  Visitation was Sunday at the church.

Mrs. Ruppert was born March 31, 1925, the daughter of Curtis and Edna (Foster) Bagley in Purdin, MO.  She attended Missouri State Teacher's College in Kirksville, MO, and taught school for three years in a small country school.   In 1945, she moved to Illinois to work in Nokomis bank with her uncle, Wayne Bagley. 

She married Milton Ruppert on May 11, 1947, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Nokomis.    The family lived on a farm northwest of Nokomis, and later moved to a farm near Hillsboro for 21 years.  Upon retiring in 2005, they moved back to Nokomis.

During her lifetime, in addition to being a farm wife and mother, she became a CNA and worked for home health.  She was also active in Montgomery County Home Extension and Lutheran Women's Missionary League, holding both local, zone and district level offices.  Of utmost importance in her life was her faith in her Lord and Savior.  She faithfully witnessed to many throughout her life and dearly loved her Bible study group.

Surviving are her children, Allen (Martha) Ruppert of Hillsboro, Phyllis (Don) McGuire of Springfield, Janice (Roger) Bauman of Nokomis; 16 grandchildren, Rachel Fiet, Aaron Ruppert, Eva Stottler, Daniel Ruppert, Emily Moyer, Phillip Ruppert, Alex Ruppert, Scott Harrison, Julie Varones, Chad Ruppert, Beth Dorsey, Jordan Ruppert, Norann Ruppert, Craig Bauman, Curt Bauman and Brad Bauman; 40 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; and several very loved nieces and nephews and special friend, Denise Romersberger.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Milton Ruppert; children James Ruppert and Susan Ruppert; two grandchildren, Melissa and Jeffrey; and two sisters and one brother.
