Community Shows And Shines For JK

Posted

The community showed up to support one of its own once again on Sunday, Oct. 18, as dozens turned out for the JK Harbaugh Car Show and Parade at Victory Lane Ford in Litchfield.

Of the nearly 40 registered vehicles, first place in the people’s choice awards went to Brian Hendricks of Hillsboro and his 1965 Pontiac GTO. Jeni Neece’s entry, a 2018 Cadillac CTS-V, and Dean and Marlene Parker’s entry, a 1956 Chevrolet BelAir, took second and third. Brian Waggoner of Gillespie won the 50/50 and donated the money back to the Harbaugh family.

The show was held to benefit Victory Lane employee Jeff Harbaugh, who was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma in July and has been undergoing treatment for the disease since then.

“Thank you does not cover how grateful and blessed we are! It’s so hard to find words to express our thanks to so many that helped make today’s event possible! I think I have cried more from the generosity and kindness of everyone than I did when Jeff was first diagnosed,” Jen Harbaugh, Jeff’s wife said. “We didn’t get to go to the event today because it’s still not safe for Jeff to be in a crowd. As most of you know he’s a hugger and I know he wouldn’t be able to help himself.”

Harbaugh also thanked Gene and Stephanie Hebenstreit, owners of Victory Lane Ford, for putting the event together, along with all of those who volunteered their time, donated items and attended the event. She also thanked Gerald and Sandi Brand for their hard work with the event and for stopping by to narrate the parade.

The father of six, Harbaugh was the owner of Sportsman’s Choice and a semi truck driver in addition to his work at Victory Lane. He also taught hunter’s safety courses, was a conceal and carry instructor and a dedicated member of the NRA and Litchfield Sportsman’s Club.

Benefit T-shirts can still be purchased at Victory Lane Ford in Litchfield for $10 and donations for the Harbaugh family can be left at the dealership as well.
