The grounds were full of life over Memorial Day weekend, a perfect time to cut a ribbon celebrating the grand opening of Country Bend Campground north of Litchfield.
The ribbon cutting ceremony hosted by the Litchfield Chamber of Commerce on Saturday morning, May 25, welcomed new owners Jeff and Kate Tuxhorn of Pawnee to the business community.
"Thank you everyone for being here," Kate said before cutting a ceremonial ribbon in front of the sign that welcomes guests. "I think we're alerady off to a great start."
The Tuxhorns purchased the Honey Bend property on Jan. 9 and opened for business on April 1. In between those two dates the new owners have been polishing and remodeling: the in-ground swimming pool is open for the season, and the miniature golf course has been rehabilitated, just to name a few.
"Our vision is for our campground to be a place for families to come and have fun," Kate said. To that end, the Tuxhorns have already scheduled numerous family-friendly weekend events.
In addition to the pool and miniature golf, the campground features 145 campsites, some primitive and seasonal camp sites, 13 cabins, all with kitchens, heating and air conditioning, four ponds with pedal boats, and "Blossom," a charming and picturesque banquet hall.
In addition to the owners, campground hosts are Deb and George Sheff and Ray Campbell. Call 217-324-2363 for information.
