Montgomery County Board Chairman Evan Young has announced the cancellation of their full board meeting in July, that was scheduled on Tuesday evening, July 14.
According to the press release from Chris-Mont EMA, a county employee, who works with the county board, was unknowingly exposed off duty to COVID and has recently been tested. That employee is awaiting test results. To date, anyone else who would have been exposed has been notified after contact tracing was completed.
In addition, Finance Committee Chairman Megan Beeler announced the awarding of the county’s COVID-19 business relief grants will also be delayed. They were on the agenda for Tuesday’s meeting. For more information about the grant program, contact Beeler at 217-246-0392.
“Out of an abundance of caution, Mr. Young has decided to postpone the July Montgomery County Board meeting with the current outbreaks that Montgomery County has experienced in recent days,” the release read. “When a new meeting date is set, it will be released.”
The release also encouraged people to practice social distancing, wearing of masks, frequent hand washing and cleaning of common touch areas regularly.
“We have the ability to slow the spread of COVID-19 by following these simple protective measures.”
