County Soccer Scores Nine All-SCC Honorees

Posted

Montgomery County Players took nine of the 36 all-conference spots in this year's South Central Conference all-conference teams, which were recently voted on by the coaches of the SCC.

Hillsboro would have five of those honorees, including Tess Saathoff, Aubry Rupert and Abbi Jett on the first team. Jett would have six shutouts in goal for the Lady Hiltoppers, with a goals against average of 1.4. Saathoff would be key on both sides of the ball as one of Hillsboro's top defenders and scorers, with 13 goals this season. Rupert would also be a huge offensive threat with a team-best 14 goals and one of Hillsboro's leaders in assists.

Lexi Lusk would earn a second team nod for the Lady Hiltoppers, while Grace Anderson was a third team selection. Lusk finished the season with 11 goals, giving Hillsboro three players in double digits, while Anderson had two goals and was among the leaders in assists. All five Hillsboro picks were seniors.

Litchfield would have one first teamer as senior Sydney Hoehl earned a spot on the best of the best list. Hoehl anchored the Panther defense and helped goalkeeper Becky Painter to three shutouts on the season. She also assisted on two goals from the offensive side of the field.

The Panthers' top two scorers, Maddie Diamond and Jordan Morgan, would land on the second team list. Diamond, a sophomore, would score 14 goals and have six assists on the year, while Morgan, a junior, would score ten goals and assist on 12 more.

Sophomore defender Jordan Ramey would be named to the third team after a stellar season in the back for the Lady Panthers.

Conference champion Carlinville (8-0) would lead the list with eight honorees, while Hillsboro, Pana and Roxana all had five each. After Litchfield's four, Greenville and Staunton had three each, Southwestern had two and Gillespie had one.

Of the 36 players, 15 were seniors, 12 were juniors, seven were sophomores and two were freshmen, meaning that several key players will be returning next season for their respective clubs.
