Cross Over Ministries will be hosting the fourth annual Destroy the Darkness mental health and suicide awareness walk on Saturday, May 15, beginning at 9 a.m.
This year, the walk will be held simultaneously at three locations around Montgomery County. Participants can meet at the Witt Lioness park house at 404 West Broadway Street in Witt; the Montgomery County Farm Bureau building at 102 N. Main Street in Hillsboro or the Union Ave Christian Church at 422 E. Union Ave in Litchfield.
Registration will start at 8:30 a.m. A brief presentation prior to the walk will be given by Cross Over Ministries board members and Recovery Support Peers (RSPs) about mental health programs and resources in Montgomery County. Mental health and substance abuse was ranked as the number one or two health needs.
Each walk will start at approximately 9 a.m. The Hillsboro and Litchfield walks will be approximately one mile in length and the Witt walk will be approximately two miles. A donation of $20 to participate will go towards providing on-going mental health programs and training for Montgomery County residents.
Participants can register early at their website, www.crossovernfp.com or the day of the event. For more information email email@example.com or contact Jodi Reynolds at 217-556-1103, Lynette Weiss at 217-820-2143 or Dawn Young at 217-710-5332.
