The Morrisonville/Lincolnwood baseball team was in Springfield on Thursday, May 9, for what would be their final game before regionals.
The Mohawks would yield six runs in the first inning to Springfield Lutheran as the home team pulled out an 11-0 victory in MSM Conference action.
Two of Morrisonville's three hits in the game would go for extra-bases, but Dade Pitchford would be out trying to stretch his triple into an inside the park home run in the first and Andrew Skinner would be erased on a fielder's choice after leading off the fourth with a double.
Morrisonville's only other hit came in the fourth, a single by Jhadyn Walker that loaded the bases with two outs, but Lutheran's Colton Larson picked up the strikeout to end the inning.
Larson would get it done on the mound and in the batter's box, going 4-for-4 with two runs and four RBIs. Josh Mauney also had two hits, a run scored and a pair of RBIs for the Crusaders, who added two runs in the third and three runs in the fourth to end the game early.
Morrisonville was scheduled to play May 10, at Pana, but due to the tragedy of the death of Lincolnwood senior Austin Krager, that game was understandably cancelled.
The Mohawks are the host of this week's regional and took on Pawnee in their opening game on Wednesday, May 15.
