Dale E. Renken, 87, of Hillsboro, died at 1:35 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2020, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

A private family service was held. Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro assisted the family.

He was born May 2, 1933, in Nokomis, to Ed and Ruby (King) Renken. He married Faye Colletta in 1955, in San Francisco. 

He served his country in the U.S. Navy after graduating from Hillsboro High School in 1951. During his career, he owned a contracting company, Renken Construction, for over 50 years and built over 120 homes in the Hillsboro area. He enjoyed fishing, watching St. Louis Cardinals games, taking care of his yard, and spending time with his family, especially his great-grandchildren. He was a faithful member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Irving, and a 48-year member of the Irving Masonic Lodge #0455.

Mr. Renken is survived by three daughters, Linda (Terry) Guthrie, Karen Heather and Janet (Ron) McElroy, all of Hillsboro; five grandchildren, Amy (Josh) Tucker of Jacksonville, Brian (Kathy) Guthrie of Tampa, Dana (Shane) Grammer of Litchfield, David (Ashleigh) McElroy of Lebanon and Danielle (Greg) Seago of Hillsboro; and six great-grandchildren, Easton Grammer of Litchfield, Faye and Joshua Tucker of Jacksonville, Kinley Guthrie of Tampa, Viola McElroy of Lebanon and Zoey Seago of Hillsboro.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son-in-law, Gary Heather; and brother, Don Renken.
