Dale L. White, 91, of Irving, died on Friday, July 10, 2020, at 11:15 p.m. at Hillsboro Area Hospital.

Private family funeral services will be held with the Rev. John Jaffry, pastor of Wares Grove Lutheran Church in rural Butler, officiating. Burial will follow in Wares Grove Cemetery in Butler with military rites. A public memorial gathering will be conducted at a later date. Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro is assisting the family.

Mr. White was born March 31, 1929, in Hillsboro, to Wilbur R. and Zelma L. (Caulk) White. He married Frances Jeanette Rieke on June 27, 1954, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hillsboro, and she preceded him in death on Jan. 18, 2013.

He graduated from Hillsboro High School with the class of 1947, and went on to serve his country in the U.S. Navy, from 1948 to 1951.

A farmer, Mr. White resided in Irving and Hillsboro during his lifetime.

He was a member of Wares Grove Lutheran Church in rural Butler, Irving Masonic Lodge, Hillsboro School Board, Farm Bureau, American Legion Post in Irving, and also served on Irving Village Board and Montgomery County Board for ten years.

Mr. White was inducted into the Illinois Basketball Hall of Fame for his scoring records. He was also nominated for the class of 2021 to be inducted into the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame.

He loved spending time with his grandchildren and his family.

Mr. White is survived by his two children, Dan (wife Michelle) White and Sue (husband Gene) Tuggle, both of Irving; three grandchildren, Megan (husband Luke) Tuetken, Nic (wife Kate) White and Morgan (fiance Andrew Jorn) White; and five great-grandchildren, Jackson Tuetken, Harrison Tuetken, Sloan Tuetken, Tessa Marie White and Garrett White.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, James White and Don White.

Memorials may be directed to Wares Grove Lutheran Church in rural Butler and Irving United Methodist Church.
