Daniel Arthur Webster, 75, of Litchfield died on Thursday, March 21, 2024, peacefully at his family home.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 26, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Litchfield Family Funeral Service, located at 700 South State St. in Litchfield. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 27, at 10:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church Litchfield. Burial will be in Elm Lawn Cemetery in Litchfield.
Mr. Webster was born on Aug. 21, 1948, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Belleville to the late Marie Elizabeth Pastrovich and Leroy Alexander Webster. He attended grade school in Butler and transitioned to Hillsboro High School where he excelled in sports, particularly rugby and football. Mr. Webster graduated high school in 1967 and went on to become a certified GM mechanic at Four Flags and Brubakers.
Mr. Webster met the love of his life, Sabina Denise White, in 1978 and they had a once in a lifetime love. They went on to marry Nov. 28, 1980, and Mr. Webster brought two sons, Daniel Scott Webster and Douglas Arthur Webster, into the marriage. Mr. Webster and Sabina went on to have two sons of their own, Nathaniel Ryan Webster and Joshua Daniel Webster.
Having an interest in law enforcement, Mr. Webster became a reserve officer and went on to graduate from the Police Training Institute at University of Illinois on Oct. 29, 1976. Mr. Webster was a well known officer not only for Litchfield Police Department but also Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. Mr. Webster took pride in his work certifying in many training programs including sniper training. In total he put in 23 years for Litchfield Police Department retiring as an Investigator and 15 years for Montgomery County Sherriff’s office retiring as a deputy in charge of court security.
Mr. Webster enjoyed golfing, shooting, bowling, fishing and most of all spending time with his family. He always had a goofy demeanor and corny jokes. Mr. Webster was devoted to his faith in God and his favorite saying was “God is good.”
Mr. Webster is survived by his wife, Sabina, of Litchfield; sons Douglas (Christie) Webster of O’Fallon, MO, Nathaniel (Jennifier) Webster, of Hillsboro and Joshua (Mallory) Webster of O’Fallon; sister Nancy Webster of High Ridge, MO; grandchildren, Rebecca Ingham, Danielle Webster, Ashleigh Payne, Elizabeth Webster, Adam Webster and Josey Webster; and ten great grandchildren.
He is preceeded in death by his parents Marie and Leroy Webster; brother Lee Webster; and son Scott Webster.
