Daniel E. “Danny” Friend, 64, of Cape Canaveral, FL, formerly of Litchfield, died Monday, Dec. 21, 2020, at Cape Canaveral Hospital with his family at his side.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Cocoa Beach FL. His ashes will be spread by his sister, Cyndi, and his son, Chris, at his sister’s home in Taos, NM, on a horseback riding trail in the mountains, which he dearly loved. Island Cremations and Funeral Home of Merritt Island, FL, is assisting the family.
Mr. Friend was born Oct. 14, 1956, the son of Gerald “Jerry” and Marlene Friend.
A graduate of Litchfield High School, he later graduated from an electronic school in Louisville, KY. He owned and operated a well-known salon and spa STYLZ in Cocoa Beach, FL for the past 30-plus years. He was a devoted father, lived life to the fullest and embraced everyone with his easy-going spirit. His funny sense of dry humor always brought a smile and laughter to those around him.
He is survived by a son, Christopher Friend of Cocoa, FL; his mother and stepfather, Marlene and Myron Donna of Spartanburg, SC; sister, Cyndi Friend (husband Jorge) Gonzalez of Houston, TX; an aunt, Carol Breitweiser of Bunker Hill; his partner, Randy Liebich; and close friends.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by stepfather, Glenn Randle; grandparents; and two uncles.
