Daniel Lee Smith, 56, of Farmersville, formerly of Girard, died Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2020, at his home.
Private funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 6, in Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield. Davis-Anderson Funeral Home assisted the family.
Mr. Smith was born Sept. 10, 1964, in Springfield, to Mitchell and Mary (Pitchford) Smith.
A 1982 graduate of Girard High School, he joined the U.S. Air Force right after school and served his country for over ten years. He served during Desert Shield and Desert Storm and was stationed in Germany for three-and-a-half years. He obtained the rank of Staff Sergeant. After his discharge, he returned home to Girard and was a project manager for NH3D of Girard. He was a member of Boston Chapel Christian Church and was very close to the people of Farmersville.
In addition to his mother, Mary Ann Smith of Girard, he is survived by four sons, Zachary D. (significant other Heather Sims) Smith of Mattoon, Caleb S. (Whitney) Smith of Sullivan, Mitchell L. (Marci) Smith of Midlothian, TX, and Dustin M. (Ashley) Smith of Fountain, CO; daughter, Kayla D. (significant other Brent Enderlein) of Cocoa, FL; four grandsons, Cooper S. Smith, Owen S. Smith, Ethan E. Smith and Emerson L. Smith; three granddaughters, Olivia N. Smith, Sophia E. Smith and Kinley N. Smith; three sisters, Diana (Brett) Brown of Girard, Dawn (Eric) Webb of Raymond and Danielle (Kyle) Marshall of Farmersville; two brothers, David (Lori) Smith and Randy (Colean) Smith, all of Girard; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father.
