David C. Calufetti, Sr., 81

David Charles Calufetti, Sr., 81, of Hillsboro, died at 12:47 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2019, at Hillsboro Area Hospital.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, Sept. 3, from 9 to 11 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Hillsboro. Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 3, at the church, with Father Daniel Willenborg, pastor of St. Agnes Church, officiating. Cremation rites were accorded. Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home of Hillsboro is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mr. Calufetti was born on March 26, 1938, in St. Louis, MO, to Guido and Catherine (Pisk) Calufetti. He married Shirley Mae Caulk on June 21, 1958, at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Hillsboro. Mr. Calufetti graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1956. He was a heavy equipment operator who lived in Panama, Phoenix, AZ, and Hillsboro during his lifetime.

He was a member of the Operating Engineers #520 of Granite City. Mr. Calufetti loved to hunt, drag racing and baseball. He was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals.

Mr. Calufetti is survived by his wife; children, David (Connie) Charles Calufetti, Jr., of Virginia Beach, VA, Vincent Calufetti of Hillsboro, Robin (Dave) Loucks of Hillsboro, Mark (Diane) Calufetti of Maryland and Maria Calufetti of Hillsboro; grandchildren, David, III, Shannon, Kyle, Colin, Nathan, Abby, Kal, Lillith and Bryan; 13 great-grandchildren; and brother, Tony Calufetti.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother.
