David Thomas Nimmons, 72, of Litchfield, died on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2021, at 10:35 p.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, Jan. 20, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, Jan. 21, beginning at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Jon Magnuson of Beacon Church officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Litchfield. Due to CDC guidelines, social distancing and masks will be required.

Mr. Nimmons was born May 8, 1948, in Litchfield, to Ralph Joseph and Maxine Irene (Hunt) Nimmons. He married Lori Mae Hall on April 17, 1993, in Litchfield, and she survives.

He graduated from Litchfield High School with the class of 1966. He served as a Command Sgt. Major with the U.S. Army and worked at Johnson Atoll Island during his term.

In his later years, Mr. Nimmons worked at Propellex in Donnellson as an explosives inspector.

He enjoyed hunting and playing around on his John Deere tractor. He also enjoyed and treasured his grandsons, Maddux and Sammy, and his wife.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Nimmons is survived by his daughter, Angela Norris; stepdaughter, Christina (Tyler) Hornback of Sherman; two brothers, Pat (Cindy) Brown of Pittsfield and John (Tonia) Nimmons of Helenville, WI; sister, Joanne (Lyndal) Kraner of Woodburn; and three grandchildren, Petra Nimmons, Maddux Hornback and Sammy Hornback.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and son, Thomas Wayne Nimmons.
