Dean J. Brown, 68, of Galatia, formerly of Hillsboro, died on Thursday, Feb. 6, 2020, at Harrisburg Memorial Center.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Feb. 12, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Hillsboro. Private services will follow. Hough and Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro is assisting the family.
Mr. Brown was born May 11, 1951, in Litchfield, to Clarence and Helen (Blount) Brown. He married Mary Reynolds in May 1971.
He graduated from Raymond High School. During his career, he served as an insurance agent for Country Companies for 30 years and co-owned Brown’s Insurance of Hillsboro. He was also a lifelong farmer who loved horses.
Mr. Brown was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Hillsboro, NCHA and was a past member of the Montgomery County Farm Bureau.
He is survived by his sons, Brian (Dacia) Brown of Hillsboro and Brett (Michelle) Brown of Butler; daughter, Melissa (Joel) York of Palestine; brother, Phillip (Jane) Brown of Raymond; sister, Vicky Wooten of Mt. Zion; and seven grandchildren, Nathan, Kaden, Bryce, Payton and Raelyn Brown and Cody and Brady York.
Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his parents; and brother-in-law, Frank Wooten.
Memorials may be directed to the Montgomery County 4-H Foundation, Crawford 4-H Foundation or Hillsboro FFA.
