Delmar L. Dennison, Jr., 77, of Virden, died Saturday, Dec. 7, 2019, at HSHS St. John's Hospital in Springfield, surrounded by his family.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, Dec. 11, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Calvert and Ferry Funeral Home in Virden. 

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 12, at 10 a.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Auburn with the Elder James Welch officiating. Burial will be held in Girard Cemetery in Girard.

Mr. Dennison was born April 26, 1942, in Bissell, a son of Delmar L. and Sarah B. (Harris) Dennison, Sr. He married Linda L. Shearburn on Nov. 30, 1963, in Divernon, and she survives.

He retired from Panhandle Eastern Pipeline Co. in Glenarm. He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses' in Auburn, and he believed in the resurrection hope. He dedicated his life in September 2019, to telling others about God's Kingdom.

Family was of great importance in his life. He was proud and honored to be a father, grandfather and great-grandfather to his family. He was kind, light-hearted, loving and unforgettable to all that were blessed to know him. He has left a permanent mark etched on the hearts of many. He will be greatly missed.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter, Melinda S. (Martin) Emery of Girard; son, Delmar "Lyle" (Dana) Dennison III of New Douglas; grandchildren, Renee (Brad) Drew, Justin (Shannon) Emery and Delissa Dennison; great-grandchildren, Caleb Collins, Ashlynn Drew and Jonah Emery; sisters, Shirley Wilson of Auburn and Ruth Broaddus of Virden; brothers, Don (Libby) Dennison of Morrisonville and Rick (Peg) Dennison of Virden; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Delores Shearburn and Norma Allen; and brothers, Leonard and Jerry Dennison.
